Vision
Where we’re heading
Most companies do not need more software. They need the software they already depend on to be faster, better understood, and capable of changing without a rewrite.
The work we want
That is the work we want to be known for. Not the largest projects, but the ones where a business had a real constraint, we removed it, and the result still held up three years later.
Build systems the client's own team could take over tomorrow, and give them no reason to want to.
The long view
Four things we are building towards
Engineering depth without an enterprise budget
The gap between a freelancer and a consultancy that bills like one is where most mid-market companies are stuck. We intend to keep that middle properly served.
AI as infrastructure, not a feature
Within a few years the interesting question stops being whether a product uses a model and becomes how well the system around it handles being wrong. We are building that discipline now.
Software you could take elsewhere
Every platform we deliver should be maintainable by a team that is not us. Documented, tested, no bus factor of one. Clients stay because leaving would be easy.
Engineering talent that stays in Kerala
Ambitious international work from a Kochi base, so the best engineers here do not have to relocate to do it.
What this rules out
A vision is only useful if it excludes something. Ours excludes a few things we are regularly asked to do:
- Staffing a project we do not believe in to keep a team billable. If the brief does not hold together, we say so before the contract, not during it.
- Building on a stack nobody on the client side can hire for, because it was interesting to us at the time.
- Growing headcount faster than we can keep review standards up. Quality here is a function of how many people are reading each other's code.
- Adding a model to a workflow that a well-written query would solve more cheaply and more predictably.
None of these are difficult positions to state. They are difficult to hold when a quarter is light, which is exactly why they are written down.
